Forced social situation barely covers the kind of awkwardness I experienced today at my office holiday party. I'm not going to say it was as bad as that episode of the Office where they have a 'Yankee Swap' well folks, we too had a Yankee Swap. It was I don't know, horrible. Just watching people evaluating an objects worth in front of the whole group, is just totally lame. We also had to take a holiday quiz, and wouldn't you know it, the chair of the holiday party committee won... shocker there. I think I got like two things right, and I was so not in the mood to deal with a quiz. I don't think anyone was, it was just not fun to say the least. The food was good. We went to BJ's Brewery, and no one really drank anything. It was an all you can eat buffet type thing, but they brought out this desert, it was a giant cookie with ice cream, and the cookie... well it was pretty much raw in the middle, but the rest of the food was totally ok.
I really do like my coworkers, and we had a blast last year, a total blast, and it wasn't that expensive either, this year it cost me a total of like $26 to go. I'm not complaining, but seriously $26 to take a quiz, and Yankee Swap? Ok so I am complaining. I appreciate the amount of work that went into planning everything it just seems like what we wanted vs. what certain people wanted vs. what the collective wanted. It's always hard to plan a party, so I do give them kudos for planning it.
So then, I went home. And now I'm home, free to knit and watch TV in peace.
